Interruption of cooperation with the north neighbor poses new tasks to the management of  ANTONOV Company including problems of import replacement, search of partners and redirection of the production. So, nowadays, construction of the AN−132 new multipurpose transport is being launched. Within this project being developed in cooperation with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,  programme of the import replacement is actively realized. This foresees participation in the programme the world−known aviation companies including Pratt&Whitney Canada, General Electric, Honeywell, Liebherr and Hamilton Sundstrand.

One of the main current tasks is  international cooperation widening, replacement of suppliers of vendor items and equipment. We are aiming to redirect production and to find partners among the western companies as soon as possible. We have already reached expressive results. Many meetings and negotiations were conducted with aviation world leaders”, noted Mykhaylo Gvozdov, head of ANTONOV Company.

 Till present, ANTONOV Company completed the stage of draft design of the AN−132. Besides, main technical decisions on the airframe design and the aircraft’s equipment were made. The AN−132 will be powered by Pratt&Whitney Canada PW150 Western engines with R408 six−bladed propellers of Dowty Propellers    Company. Liebherr life support systems and Honeywell the most modern avionics complex will be installed on the aircraft. New APU of Western production is planned to be used as well.

 The enterprise’s design bureau began publishing documentation. The first drafts of the AN−132 have already been sent to services of test and series production. According to the schedule, the new aircraft assembly is planned to be completed in the second quarter of 2016.

 The AN−132 prototype is being created according to the contract with KACST (King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology). By the terms of the contract, ANTONOV Company as a designer must construct the first AN−132, lift it into the air and perform the first stage of tests to provide this aircraft flight to Saudi Arabia for demonstration.

“Our partner will organize a series of demonstrative flights to show potential customers the AN−132 capabilities in different geographic and climatic conditions. As a result of this promo action a contract is planned to be signed. This contract provides continuation of the AN−132 programme – certification and launch of the aircraft to series production”, said Mykhaylo Gvozdov.


For information: the AN−132 light transport is intended to carry various cargoes weighting over 9 tons short− and medium−haul routes. According to the preliminary estimation, about 300 such airplanes are demanded in the market.
